There’s a famous quote on recession. “A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose your job“.
Last week I have virtually seen the Recession. Anil (my friend and roommate) was supposed to be flying to Germany for a long term assignment. Every thing was going very smoothly. All the paper work was done. His got his visa stamping. Done the shopping and even got his flight tickets. He was very happy with the proceedings
After postponing the departure date for more than couple of times, just 2 days before his take off, he was told that the project is called off and he’ll not be traveling to Germany. It was shocker of his life. Rubbing salt on the wound…. He was asked to take leave as he was on bench (technical term to describe that employee is not tagged to any project and was sitting idle). It was really a roller coaster ride for him (or even more than that) which ended terribly.
But there is some grace for me during these tuff times. I got a single digit hike which was unexpected (I can say biggest single digit)
